Northern China Winter Tour

Today you will fly to Harbin. On arrival, your private guide will be ready to welcome you at the arrival hall, and transfer to your hotel with a private car and driver. Your guide will help you with luggage and hotel check-in, and ensure your arrival is worry-free.

You will begin at the Siberian Tiger Park, observing Amur tigers from safe viewing routes and learning about breeding and conservation in one of China's largest sanctuaries. Continue to Sun Island, noted for riverside lawns, birch woods and seasonal snow-sculpture gardens offering wide-angle photo spots. Move to the Songhua River for golden-hour views; in winter, the frozen expanse forms the shimmering "Diamond Sea", where ice crystals sparkle at sunset and create iconic shots. After dusk, immerse yourself in Ice and Snow World, famous for monumental illuminated ice palaces, slides and intricately carved sculptures that transform into a neon-lit fantasy at night.

You will set off from Harbin and drive around 4.5 hours to Snow Town (Xuexiang), famed for deep snowfall and fairy-tale rooftop "snow mushrooms". On arrival, amble along Snow Charm Street (Xueyun Street), lined with wooden cabins, red lanterns and local snacks that create a festive winter scene. Then follow the Bangchui Mountain Scenic Walkway, a boardwalk offering panoramic viewpoints over undulating snowfields, ideal for wide-angle photos. As evening descends, join the lively Northeast Yangko performance and watch the energetic square disco, where locals and visitors dance to upbeat music, adding a cheerful finale to your day.

You will start your day from Snow Village and head to Jingpo Lake area, where you first visit the spectacular Diaoshuilou Waterfall — in winter the waterfall transforms into a silent and solemn ice curtain, offering a striking seasonal vista. Then you will experience the winter fishing (“dongbu”) tradition at Jingpo Lake — watch as nets are drawn through frozen ice, and locals haul up fresh cold-water fish in a time-honoured ritual. For lunch you'll savour a Cold-water Fish Feast, sampling fresh fish caught from these sub-zero waters. The day also includes a thrilling cliff-jump performance at Diaoshuilou, where daring performers leap into the deep pool beneath the falls.

You'll begin your adventure at the north slope of Changbai Mountain, first heading to the stunning crater-lake known as Tianchi (Heaven Lake), perched high in the volcano where you'll be greeted by serene azure waters and soaring alpine views. From there you'll move on to the dramatic Changbai Waterfall, a 68-metre vertical plunge that remains flowing even in deep winter thanks to geothermal activity beneath the surface. Next you'll explore the ancient forest terrain of the Underground Forest, replete with old-growth pines, moss-covered rocks and the fresh mountain air of a true virgin woodland. Then you'll unwind at the Julong Volcanic Hot Springs, where you'll soak in the warmth and even try the local custom of cooking a hot-spring egg in the volcanic water. Finally you'll stroll across the aerial pine-bridge park among the beautiful “beauty-pine” trees for panoramic views from high above the forest canopy.

Begin your morning amid the snow-covered landscapes of Changbai Mountain, where you'll embark on a tranquil hot-spring river drift — a rare experience combining icy surroundings with the warmth of geothermal waters. The 30-minute ride lets you witness billowing steam meeting the crisp winter air, creating an ethereal atmosphere of frost and mist. As you drift along, admire the delicate rime scenery, with trees and branches coated in glittering frost crystals that sparkle under the sun. Later, visit the Edelweiss Reindeer Park, where you can meet and feed reindeer in a peaceful forest clearing and learn about local herding traditions.
