Day 1 - Welcome to Malaysia!
Today you will fly to Kuala Lumpur. Welcome to Malaysia! You will be welcomed on arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and transferred to your hotel On arrival in Check-In to your Hotel.
Day 2 - Kuala Lumpur Discovery
After breakfast at the hotel, you begin your tour of the Malaysian capital. Your tour of Kuala Lumpur will take you to all of the city’s attractions including the gold-domed King’s Palace, National Monument, and National Museum built to commemorate the Malaysian Struggle for Independence. You can also load up on souvenirs at China Town before heading to the serene National Mosque, the Independence Square or Anglican Church, and the iconic KL Tower (with entrance to observation deck) that adorns every Malaysian postcard.
You have the rest of the day free to indulge in some retail therapy.
Day 3 - Batu Cave & Cameron Highlands
Travel north to the ancient Batu Cave complex. Pass the giant, gold statue of Hindu deity Murugan at the foot the limestone hill, and climb 272 steps up the outcrop to explore the sacred series of caverns and Hindu temples, and perhaps see a few cheeky macaques scampering over the rocks. Continue north, and after a winding ascent, you’ll reach the temperate hill station in the Cameron Highlands, to be greeted by rolling hills and a very welcome drop in humidity.
Please note: Tea factory operation is closed on Monday and public holidays.
Day 4 - Falls & Farms Discovery Walk
Embark on a Falls & Farms Discovery walk. This moderate 2-3 hour trek follows a winding, undulating jungle trail to the picturesque Robinson Falls, before passing through the Bertam Valley, one of the main vegetable growing areas of the Cameron Highlands, dotted with farms. Visit one of the region’s famous tea plantations to learn about the traditional techniques, seeing the processes from cultivation to marination and drying, before sampling three of the plantation’s different teas as you overlook the vast terraces below.
Day 5 - Head to Penang
Head off early for Penang, leaving the Malay Peninsula as you cross one of the world's longest bridges to Penang Island. The rest of your day will be at leisure to start soaking up Georgetown’s rich heritage.
Day 6 - Penang's City Tour
Tour Penang’s key sights, and graze at the town’s famous foodie hotspots. Make a beeline for the ornate Sri Mahamariamman Temple, pausing for a few Indian-style snacks along the way. Visit the Khoo Kongsi clan house, the Pinang Peranakan Mansion museum and historic Fort Cornwallis, then lunch on spicy Penang Laksa rice-noodle soup and coconut-sweet chendol (food list depends on the arrangement of the guide). See Wat Chaiya Mangkalaram’s grand reclining Buddha; visit the Dhammikarama Burmese Buddhist temples, and head to Bangkok Lane to try the famous Mee Rebus and Mee Goreng noodles that reflect the area’s Thai and Burmese influences.
Your last stop of the day will be the famous Kek Lok Si Buddhist temple: an expansive complex of prayer halls, pagodas, and bell towers surrounding a seven-story pagoda and a bronze statue of the Goddess of Mercy. After a sight-filled day, the rest of the afternoon will be at leisure to soak up the city’s sights and sounds.
Day 7 - Set off to Kota Bharu
Check-out from the hotel and set off to Kota Bharu (approximate journey time is 6 hours.) It’s a relatively long drive but there will be the opportunity to stop en-route to stretch your legs. Traveling across Peninsular Malaysia through the main mountain range, which offers scenic views of the dense tropical rain forest while journeying through villages and plantations. En route, make a photo stop on Banding Island with its view of the famous Temenggor lake. Opt for a lunch break (own expense) or explore the lake surrounded by the tropical rainforest in the background.
Then stop at the highest mountain point on this route, 1050 meters above sea level, which overlooks Thailand and Malaysian border, with views of the famous Titiwangsa mountain range with its dense, tropical rainforest. Continue to Kota Bharu, Kelantan, and check-in upon arrival. Free at leisure for the rest of the day
Day 8 - Fishing Village & Monkey Plucking Coconut
Breakfast. Free at Leisure. 14:00 pm - Meet and transfer to a traditional fishing village, a rendezvous for fishing boats with intricate design. Witness the return of the fishing boats with their catch and enjoy the art design of the fishing boats know as the floating art of Langkasuka.
Walk around the fishing village witness the lifestyle of the fisherman. Visit Peranakan house of Kelantan, the houses are different from those elsewhere in that they are an interesting blend of Chinese and Malay influences. See how monkey plucking coconut and enjoy fresh coconut drink. Proceed to another fishing village that dotted with colorful traditional fishing boat know as Perahu Sekuchi and visit the Dragon Temple. Transfer back to the hotel, free at leisure.
Day 9 - Kuala Terengganu & Keropok
Check-out from your hotel and we will drive along the scenic coastline toward Kuala Terengganu, tasting some keropok, the popular local chips made of fish or prawn. Afterward, check into your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your own leisure.
Day 10 - Kuantan & Turtle Information Center
You will proceed to Kuantan and, on the route, taste the Lemang, rice cooked with coconut milk in bamboo, a popular Malay delicacy not to be missed. We will stop at a scenic coastal fishing village and visit a turtle information center where you can learn more about this endangered species. Take an afternoon tea break before visiting the final stop at homegrown Batik Gallery, Malaysia’s famous art textile made from wax, using the hand-drawn or hand-blocked technique. Continue to the hotel and check-in.
Day 11 - Back to Kuala Lumpur
You will visit the quaint historic town of Sungai Lembing situated northwest from Kuantan. Stop at a hanging bridge for a scenic view of the surroundings and then visit Sungai Lembing Museum, which provides insight on the largest, longest, and deepest subterranean tin mine in the world. Continue to experience the living museum on foot and visit the underground tunnel, once known as the El Dorado of the East.
You will take a private transfer back to Kuala Lumpur.
