Day 1 - International Arrival, Vientiane at Leisure
Welcome to Laos! Upon arrival at the Vientiane Wattay International Airport, you will be met and escorted to check-in the hotel. Enjoy the free time of the rest of the day.
Day 2 - Vientiane Sightseeing
After breakfast, you will start to visit the oldest Wat Sisaket with thousands of tiny Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Pra kaew built as the Lao royal family's personal chapel and it houses the famous Emerald Buddha Image. En route to the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, stop at Patuxay Monument, the Vientiane's own Arc de Triumph, to take some pictures.
In the afternoon visit the Buddha Park (Wat Xieng Khuan) which is a famous sculpture park with over 200 religious statues including a huge 40-metre high reclining Buddha image.
Day 3 - Vientiane - Vang Vieng
Today we will head for Vang Vieng through the amazing Nam Ngum Lake. En route you will stop to visit Ban Bor Village. After a delicious lunch at a local restaurant by the Nam Ngum Lake, you will have a leisure boat ride on the lake (about 1.5 hrs). Later continue to drive to Vang Vieng.
Day 4 - Vang Vieng - Luang Prabang
In the morning, you will first visit a local market and the Tham Jang Caves, a cave temple with a huge stalagmite resembling an elephant's head, and once used as a bunker to defend against maraudors in the early 19th century. Then drive to Luang Prabang. Later climb the stairs to the top of Mt. Phousi to explore the sacred gilded stupa and enjoy a panoramic view of the city and the stunning sunset over Mekong River. Walk around the Phousi Night Market on your own in the evening.
Day 5 - Luang Prabang Sightseeing
After breakfast set out for Wat Sene, the city's oldest temple and the amazing Wat Xieng Thong representing classical Laotian architectural style. Next you will enjoy a upstream cruise on the Mekong River with an excursion to the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, crammed with Buddha images of all shapes and sizes.
Then you will go to the village of Ban Xanghai to sample local rice wine. On the way back to Luang Prabang, take a short drive to the Ban Phanom known for cotton and silk weaving.
Day 6 - Luang Prabang Sightseeing
If you like, get up early to witness the Buddhist Alms Giving Ceremony to get a better understanding of local people's piety towards their religion. Next visit the Morning Market or Phousi Market. Later drive to the famous Khouang Si Waterfall where you can enjoy a splashing around in the turquoise pools or a walk along the forest trails. On the way, stop by some local villages of Lao ethnic minority groups including Ban Ouay Village, Ban Thapene Village and Ban Ou village. In late afternoon, visit the Ban Xang Khong Village noted for Saa (jute) papermaking. Drive back to Luang Prabang in the late afternoon and catch the sunset at Wat Phabath.
Day 7 - Luang Prabang, Departure
After breakfast, you will first visit the Royal Palace Museum home to gilded rooms and Buddha artifacts. Then visit Wat Visoun, Wat Aham and Wat Mai before drive to airport for your flight to your sweet home.
