Day 1 - arrive Vientiane
Welcome to Vientiane! On your arrival, your guide will meet you and escort you to the hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
Vientiane, capital of Laos, is usually ignored by travelers because of Luang Prabang which is known as one of the premier travel destinations in the world. Busy and hectic in comparison to the rest of the country, it is actually very quiet when compared to most other capital cities in Asia. Located on the banks of the Mekong River, French Colonial architecture sits side-by-side with gilded temples, the city is a truly mixed blood of the east and west. With a population less than a million, you will enjoy the city’s wealth of highlights without the large crowds as you will encounter in Luang Prabang.
Day 2 - Vientiane, City Tour, Tuk Tuk Night Safari & Sin Dat BBQ
Today's visits will begin at Wat Sisaket.Housing thousands of miniature Buddha statues in its walls, it is argually the most beautiful temple in Vientiane. Next stop is Wat Phra kaew, built in 1565 as the Lao royal family's personal chapel to enshrine the Emerald Buddha statue, which was subsequently stolen by the Siamese and now sits in the Grand Palace in Bangkok. Then go to visit the Patuxay monument - also called Anousavari. Here, you can climb up on the roof for fantastic panoramic views. Continue on to the golden stupa of That Luang, the holiest place in Laos.
The final stop of this morning is the excellent COPE exhibition centre, highlighting the Lao people's continued day-to-day struggle with the unexploded ordnance as a result of heavy bombing campaigns during the Vietnam War era.
Having returned to the hotel, your afternoon is at leisure till 6pm.
When the sun sets and the air cools, the city of Vientiane turns positively vibrant, especially around the street-food market. A trip to Laos wouldn't be complete without savouring some of Lao's fantastic street-food. Accompanied by your guide, take a tuk tuk to the night market near That Luang, a place without many tourists, but is a consistent favourite among the locals. YAs the stalls come alive with delicious aromas, your guide will help you pick out a selection of dishes to sample but remember to save some room for the main event: a Lao-style BBQ, known as a Sin Dat.
After dinner relax in the tuk tuk for a leisurely ride back to your hotel.
Day 3 - Vientiane, Tham Jang Cave, Vang Vieng
After breakfast, drive in a picturesque route to Vang Vieng via Ban Keun famous for its salt mine. Taking the opportunity to stop, you will learn about the daily working life of the local people. Continue on to Nam Ngum, a popular lakeside spot for people from Vientiane to visit, especially at the weekends.
Having taken a break for lunch if you wish, continue north to Vang Vieng, stopping at Tha Heua, a small village known for its dried fish, where you will see hanging fish outside the local houses. Arrive into Vang Vieng by mid-afternoon.
Visit the picturesque Tham Jang Cave, once used as a hideout from Chinese invaders by the local people and it offers stunning views of over the Nam Song River and surrounding karst scenery.
Day 4 - Vang Vieng, Cycle & Kayak
After breakfast, enjoy a bicycle ride through the Vang Vieng countryside, along quiet tracks, among the astonished limestone karst scenery. A stop can be made at a Tai Dam Weaving Village, the women there weave brightly-colored textiles. After an hour's cycling, you will arrive at the ‘blue lagoon’: the perfect spot to cool off with a refreshing dip in the crystal clear waters. There is also the option of climbing up to Tham Phoukham Cave (‘Cave of the Golden Crab), which boasts a vast cavern and impressive stalagmites, some of which look like crabs (hence the name).
Drive back towards Vang Vieng, you will stop at an organic farm where you’ll enjoy a leisurely lunch by the beautiful Nam Song River.
After the lunch, board the awaiting kayaks and paddle back to Vang Vieng, along the Nam Song River. Enjoy the beautiful scenery along the quiet river.
Day 5 - Vang Vieng, Sayaboury, Elephant Conservation Centre
After an early breakfast, drive north for Sayaboury. On the way, you may stop at several points of interest en route. Upon arrival, board on a small boat to cross Nam Tien Lake, to reach the Elephant Conservation Centre.
The centre is considered to be the first elephant hospital dedicated to victims suffering from logging accidents as well as those affected by diseases. Staffed by an international team of elephant veterinarians, the hospital offers veterinary care services, an operating room and an emergency unit as well as a laboratory.
Also on site is an elephant nursery; the HQ of an innovative reproduction project led by Lao mahouts in partnership with the centre. It relies on voluntary participation and aims to support mahouts working in logging by assisting with the cost of breeding elephants.
After lunch, take a guided tour of the centre’s facilities and learn about the excellent work being carried out by the team. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet the stars of the show, having your first interaction with the elephants whilst their mahouts show you how they mount and dismount these mighty creatures, and the commands they use. It’s fascinating to observe the unique bond between the mahout and his elephant. In the late afternoon, accompanied by the mahouts, walk the elephants into the forest to their night resting place.
Before dinner there is time to relax and soak up the scenic surroundings. Overnight at the Elephant Conservation Centre.
Day 6 - Elephant Conservation Centre, Sayaboury, Luang Prabang
After breakfast, join in the elephants for their daily exercise. Take a stroll to the Socialization Area through the tropical forest. Elephants are extremely social animals and this area has been created for the elephants to freely interact and establish bonds as they would in their natural environment. It's a great opportunity to observe elephants' natural behaving, without receiving any instructions from their mahouts.
After lunch, pay a visit to the elephant nursery: a peaceful spot for mothers and their new babies; it has permanent access to water and plenty of natural fodder to graze on. The camp’s specialist team spends many years with each calf, helping them learn the vital skills of how to sustain themselves.
In the afternoon, after saying goodbye to the elephants, drive back to Luang Prabang.
Day 7 - Luang Prabang
Free at leisure today.
Day 8 - Luang Prabang, Living Lands Organic Farm
After breakfast drive out of Luang Prabang to the Living Lands Organic Farm, a community enterprise, where you will meet the local farming guide for an informative, but fun morning.
Rice is an important part of life in Laos: it’s eaten at every meal and there are over 500 types of rice grown in the country. During your time at the farm, you’ll learn about each step of the rice harvest and cultivation process, and try your hand at the traditional techniques (and basic tools) that have been used for centuries.
The morning concludes with a rice tasting session, by which time you will have a much greater appreciation of the work and effort that goes into a simple bowl of rice!
Return to Luang Prabang where the remainder of your day is at leisure.
Day 9 - Luang Prabang, Pak Ou Caves, Nong Khiaw
Morning departure by car for Nong Khiaw, taking the scenic route that passes amongst rolling hills enjoying intermittent views of the Nam Ou River. Stop at the mysterious Pak Ou caves which house literally thousands of Buddha statues, hidden from the looting Chinese Haw in times gone by. The statues range from a few centimetres to the size of a human. Travelling through some dramatic landscape take time to stop and visit the villages of the H’mong and Khmu hill minority tribes before arriving at Nong Khiaw in the early afternoon.
Nong Khiaw is a remote village situated on the banks of the Nam Ou River and flanked on either side by stunning mountainous backdrops. The remainder of your day is at leisure so why not take a stroll along the river bank, wander through local villages, or just settle back with a Beer Lao and wait for the spectacular sunset.
Day 10 - Nong Khiaw, Nam Ou River Cruise, Muang Ngoi
After breakfast you will have a cruise upstream on the Nam Ou River. This particular stretch of river brings your astonished scenery and takes you to some remote minority tribes spoted along the river which only can be reached by boat, including Ban Sop Khing and Ban Sob Jaem. Stop to visit both villages as well as the fishing village of Muang Ngoi where you will enjoy lunch.
After a wander around Muang Ngoi, return by river to Nong Khiaw, arriving by mid-afternoon. The remainder of your day is at leisure.
Day 11 - Nong Khiaw, Luang Prabang
After breakfast, drive back to Luang Prabang, arriving into town around lunch time. Check in your hotel and the rest of your day is at leisure.

I recently went on the Thailand arranged by UME Travel which I thought was a great tour in which you get a good taste of Thailand in a short amount of time. UME Travel makes my first trip to Thailand the perfect one. The itinerary includes everything I ever wanted. My guide is also very nice,he made my trip very comfortable. With a friendly atmosphere, I make quite a few friends during the trip. It is great trip that I will remember forever. Highly recommend to everyone looking to come to Thailand.
This is the perfect trip for you if you like experience the authentic Thailand’s culture. This tour was jam packed with fun and sites to see. The activities arranged were full of fun. We have experience so much. And our guide is professional and is always ready to sort out our problems.
The best experience of my life. I took the 13 days Thailand tour and I enjoy every minutes of it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to taste the best part of Thailand. Our guide is also great, making every member of the group feel welcomed. I enjoy the Thailand temples the most, they are all spectacular. This trip would be great memory of a lifetime!
The sea in Phuket was like a big crystal and the water was very clear. Our guide was sweet and patient. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the experience very much.
The most impressed sight in this trip was phangna bay! My wife and son were very happy to swim there. The water was so clear and I even can see the sand under the water! So amazing! The other sights in this itinerary were also cool. I love this travel and thanks for the great organization of UME Travel.
I prefer nature landscape than other so I chose this itinerary. Before I traveled to Thailand , I had heard that Thai islands were so beautiful. This turned out to be correct after I visited there. The arrangement of each side was so sweet and I didn’t worry about everything. Highly recommend!
What an incredible and amazing 10 days in Thailand! There have been so many highlights. From the moment I got off the plane in Bangkok, I just felt unbelievable. The culture and rich history of Bangkok and mysterious the ancient temples made my night life be exciting.
It has been two weeks since I returned home from our Thailand trip, and I'm still buzzing on the great experience! Thailand is a great country to visit, and it was made so much better going with our UME Travel group. There are the best restaurants and night spots to check out, and great insider information on all of the places we traveled. I would love to go on another UME Travel, the only problem is choosing the next destination.
My wife and I enjoyed this trip very much. Both cultural and natural spots satisfied us. the markets in Thailand were characteristic. We found a new life style in Thailand. This is a nice experience!
I had the time of my life. Toni was so enthusiastic. She absolutely loves her job and it shows. Her energy is contagious. She gave me an encouraging push to step out of my comfort zone and I did things I usually wouldn't. I absolutely loved scuba diving.
Ben and James are both exceptionally engaging, informed, and FUN!!! Its hard not to enjoy 10 days in one of the most beauitiful parts of the world, but Ume travel's expertise on the areas and top notch local connections made it that much better.
Such a beautiful and unforgettable experience!! Ben was such a phenomenal and knowledgable guide, as was James! I would recommend this trip to anyone I know! If you want to dive with sharks, slip and fly, experience culture, and meet some local people, travel with Ume travel!
Just to mention their consistency in friendliness, professionalism, timely pick up and delicious lunch. The tour was brilliantly organised from beginning to end. This is truly a private tour, having Tip to yourself, so you can ask anything about Thai culture. Tip is incredibly pleasant and has a wicked sense of humor. She made sure we were all safe and comfortable before we set off, then she led us into a deserted lagoon with just the wildlife for company. If you have ever experienced a mass tour before and the accompanying noise, you will appreciate what this means. She pointed out the wildlife and guided us through what felt like a film set from Jurassic Park! You can easily check the online itinerary to get an idea of what you can expect. Will book my tour online again!
I spent 4 days diving at the Phuket islands. Great food, great boat and crew but more importantly - experienced divers/awesome people who take you out to spectacular spots and have your safety well in hand. The food is served all the time on the hotel. And in the boat, we cooked the fishes just fished by us few minutes before. The food was very tasty, plentiful and varied – from sushi to pizza. I am vegetarian and was easily taken care of. Lots of fruits, cookies, soda etc.The Sunsets were awesome and lots of space to take those in. Everything is great!
Training & Dive masters are very experienced - well organized dive deck & routine. I observed training first hand, you will get real training by qualified divers. I would trust them with my kids. I highly recommend to take this course if anyone needs one. I actually get more trainings than normal. Apart from the five dives in the course, the dive master always there to offer help and guidance throughout the whole trip.
We are using the your tour service with my Boss family trip and feel very happy and excellent with your goods customer services and organised for anything. This was our first time on a liveaboard... It was fun and easy... You dive, eat, relax, and dive again. It's so nice being able to relax in comfort between dives and when the next dive comes... You walk 15 feet and go dive again.
Very organized. Satisfied with their service. They got the good tour guide and drivers. Our flight was late from Bangkok to Phuket, so they even gave us a free airport to hotel transfer as compensation. We booked the Full Moon party tour in Oct., everything was confirmed. The night bars and party were crazy.
UME Travel made our Phuket trip safe and fun! Thanks to it's good team. We were fetched in the airport. And arrange a day tour for us going to the best islands of the world. Activities of snorkeling, site seeing, and lunch, fruit snacks and unlimited drinks is served.
This island did have a lovely beach. The sand was brilliant white and was quite soft. There are however many islands which have much softer sand! Stopped here on one of our tours and this was among my favorite stops. The snorkeling here was incredible! Loads of different fish of all sizes and colors, all wandering around coral. This beach wasn't too crowded. Highly recommended.
