Today we have an early departure for a full day hiking excursion. We will be hiking in the wild coast of the South, on the immense cliffs of lavas where the big waves break. We cross the blower, a natural cavity created by the erosion of the rock, into which we can watch the waves rush! We walk along the ocean then make our way to the small creeks. Our route will be punctuated by fields and palm trees forests. Around midday we enjoy a picnic lunch on a white sand beach at the edge of turquoise blue lagoon. It is a perfect place to relax and swim. Later in the afternoon we drive back to our hotel.

Our early morning departure from the hotel is due to our drive to the Black River National Park, where we leave for a hike in 7 Waterfalls. It is an amazing site: we walk down gradually into profound canyons covered with luxuriant vegetation and primary forests. We take in the beauty of the waterfalls and natural swimming pools which are dug into the rocks, and enjoy the crystal clear waters. At the end of the morning we go back up through the vegetation and basaltic rocks. From here we make our way to “The Rhumerie de Chamarel”in the Western part of Mauritius. In the heart of a fertile valley, lies the Rhumerie de Chamarel. The road leading to the Rhumerie is lined with vast plantations of sugar cane growing side by side with pineapples and other tropical fruits. This establishment built with wood and natural stone is one the most beautiful factories in the world. After lunch in its restaurant we will visit the factory and discover the rhum making process. At the end of the day we will drive to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
